Windows XP Update crashed Realtek HD control panel

Windows Updates are a handy and important feature for the overall security of your computer, especially if you are an average user with limited computer knowledge. The downside: sometimes Windows "patches" screw things up… Not every computer configuration is the same, so a one-size-fits-all approach can sometimes have a negative impact on your computer. Recently, I installed a brand new computer system for a client. Finished installing the Windows updates. Upon reboot, we received the following error: "The system DLL user32.dll was relocated in memory. The application will not run properly. The relocation occurred because the DLL C:\Windows\System32\Hhctrl.ocx occupied an address range reserved for Windows system DLLs. The vendor supplying the DLL should be contacted for a new DLL" — which crashed the Realtek HD control panel! This computer wasn’t even a day old, so you can imagine how frustrated we were… Fortunately, a little research revealed another windows update which you can find by clicking HERE that solved the problem.
